Bayer

Helping Bayer Build Employee Solidarity and Share Diversity after a Merger

Challenge

Bayer and Studio 53 partnered to create a digital holiday tradition that helped amplify the employee experience and build solidarity after an acquisition.

Approach

After acquiring Monsanto in June of 2018, Bayer faced the challenge of integrating both U.S. workforces. Leadership wanted to unify employees at each company by helping them learn more about their new colleagues, promote diversity and drive engagement.

The Communications team worked with us to develop a “Traditions Wall” that would amplify the employee experience by enabling colleagues to share their holiday traditions and connect with each other. To reach that goal we created an intranet site that would let visitors: post a photo of themselves participating in their holiday tradition, add a description of their activity, view a mosaic of other employee photos and connect with other participants.

Result

While the campaign was U.S. based, we received responses about Holiday traditions from Italy, Argentina and Asia; Hanukkah celebrations; non-denominational acts of charity and stories of families baking, skating and snowboarding.
